The Bar Guide was created by the Basel BarTender association and aims to fully represent the bar city of Basel. Because the city has a lot to offer: modern and classic cocktail bars, wine bars, tiki bars, rum bars, gin bars, whiskey bars, restaurant bars, club bars, party bars, hotel bars and even a beer bar. Professional hands tap beer, uncork wine, select spirits and prepare creative cocktails. Bar Guid is available at all bars that belong to the Basel BarTender association.

Starting point & objectives
Since 2019, Swiwi Design has been accompanying the Basel Bar Guide in its design and development. In collaboration with the Basel BarTender association, the magazine was redesigned and editorially structured. The aim was a consistent editorial design with clear orientation, high legibility and a timeless appearance that makes Basel's bar scene visible in its diversity.
Approach & Outcome
The design follows a clear, grid-based structure and uses precise typography as a central design element. Font sizes and spacing are carefully coordinated and create legibility and peace of mind. Small graphic elements such as lines, numbering and subtle accents structure the content and promote orientation. The result is a magazine layout that balances structure and atmosphere. Each year, the Basel Bar Guide is published in a new color variant, but remains true to its visual line and is constantly evolving. Structured Timeless Credible
